What is a messenger bag?
A messenger bag is a bag used to carry messages. It is a modern version of the rectangular satchels with cross-body straps used by early postal carriers and the backpacks used by modern bike messengers. However, manufacturers do not agree on the definition of a messenger-style bag; the terms “satchel,” “briefcase bag,” and “laptop bag” all refer to the same style of bag. For the purposes of this article, “messenger bag” and “crossbody bag” refer to bags with at least one strap long enough to be worn over one shoulder or across the body. These bags are usually worn around the waist.
