5 Best VR Headsets (2022): Virtual Reality Accessories, Apps, Games

Virtual reality is I guess of When the first Oculus Rift and HTC Vive launched in 2016, they were the next big thing. It was a technology whose time had finally come. At least, we thought so. But ultimately, VR was still a bit too expensive and too alienating to dominate the gaming world. Then there was the hype about the “metaverse,” and now companies that had invested heavily in VR are starting to pull back. Keep that in mind when considering investing in a new headset.

Still, VR can be a cool way to experience certain games, art experiences, and even sex tech. If you’re interested, here are the best headsets we’ve tried.

Wired or wireless VR?

Before we dig deeper, there’s one question we need to answer: do you prefer a wired or wireless headset? Wired VR connects to your PC, giving you more detailed graphics. You’ll probably trip over one at some point, but if you want the best graphics and have already splashed out a ton of money on a great gaming PC or laptop, a wired connection is the way to go.

For most people, including me, wireless VR is a much better option. It’s more comfortable, you don’t have to worry about getting tangled in cables, and it’s completely portable. This type of VR headset can be carried to any room in your house without having to carry a PC around with you.
