It’s been a long journey, but after years of rumors and speculation, Marvel is going back to the past to bring us the Fantastic Four in all their glory — but to do so, the movie’s title will be changed slightly.
“We’re excited to be working with Marvel Studios,” Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said during the Blockbuster Marvel panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con tonight. Fantastic Four Now Fantastic Four: The First Stepand official production on the film will begin next week on July 30th.

director WandaVisionDirected by Matt Shakman, the film is set in the 1960s and follows Reed Richards (The Last of Us and The MandalorianPedro Pascal, his wife Sue Storm (crownVanessa Kirby ofStranger ThingsJoseph Quinn) and his best friend Ben Grimm (Andre and bearEbon Moss-Bachrach and others from the SpaceX Space Center will be exposed to cosmic radiation during their space missions.
Transformed and endowed with supernatural powers, the four form the Fantastic Four as Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the ever-loving blue-eyed Thing. Together, they face off against the greatest threat the world has ever faced: the planet-devouring Galactus, played by the accomplished actor Ralph Ineson.
