Key Takeaways
- Lightweight and with great battery life, Anker’s Soundcore Boom 2 is the perfect speaker for summer.
- It delivers impressive sound quality with deep bass even in outdoor environments like a basketball court.
- Affordable price, portability, and durable design add to the Boom 2’s overall value.
Last weekend, I brought my Anker Soundcore Boom 2 speakers to my family’s annual “Cousins Weekend,” where 15 of my cousins and I spent the weekend relaxing and playing basketball on the beach in the Adirondack Mountains. Of course, I needed a loud speaker for this event, so I decided to give the Boom 2 a try. Needless to say, I think I’ve found my new favorite summer speaker.
We first used the Boom 2 to play the soundtrack to a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, blasting a mix of Charli XCX, Fred Again, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift. Anker’s latest speakers easily pumped the deep bass on the outdoor basketball court, and all of my cousins were asking where they could buy a Boom 2 too. After the tournament, I took the speakers to the beach to test them out against roaring waves, cries of seagulls, and screams from family members arguing over Monopoly rules. Despite the noise outside, the Boom 2 sounded crisp and clear.
We were impressed not only with the speaker’s volume, but also with its light weight and battery life. With just two hours of charging, the speaker lasted almost an entire weekend. If you’re considering buying a new speaker for your end-of-summer beach party or fall tailgate party, check out our full review of Anker’s Soundcore Boom 2.

Pricing, Availability and Specifications
Anker’s Soundcore Boom 2 speaker is widely available and relatively affordable. You can purchase the speaker on the Soundcore website or on Amazon for $129, but I’ve seen it on Amazon for as low as $99.
What I Like
The Soundcore Boom 2 speaker wowed me in many ways, from the fine details of the light-up speaker to the obviously amazing sound it produces. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the handle on top makes it easy to carry around. When playing bass-heavy music, the sides of the speaker light up in sync with the bass, adding a fun atmosphere to your evening events. Buyers can choose from three colors: Explorer Blue, Adventure Green, and Phantom Black. Plus, the speaker is waterproof, making it a must-have for the beach.
Looks aside, what I like most about the Boom 2 is how light it is. It weighs just over 3 pounds, and the speaker is Bose SoundLink Max Because it’s lightweight, no one has complained about carrying the speaker around. I’ve happily walked a mile carrying the Boom 2 from the basketball court to the beach.

Why I’ll be taking Bose’s new SoundLink Max everywhere I go this summer
Soundlink Max delivers powerful sound to liven up your beach party or pre-game atmosphere.
Of course, the most impressive thing about the Boom 2 is the sound quality. According to Soundcore’s website, the speaker boosts volume to 140W and boosts bass by 1.6 times. The improvement is noticeable. I never had to turn the volume up more than halfway, even while playing basketball outside. Playing our iconic “Brat Summer” playlist, the bass line and drums were clearly audible.
Plus, the Boom 2’s battery lasted most of the weekend. There’s nothing worse than your speakers suddenly dying in the middle of a party, but that’s not a concern with this speaker. The Boom 2’s battery lasts for over 20 hours on a single charge, and with its fast charging capabilities, it doesn’t take long to recharge.
What I didn’t like
Honestly, it was hard to find anything bad to say about the Boom 2. The speaker is great value for the price, but if you’re looking for more advanced features, you’ll want to look elsewhere. While the Boom 2 lets you adjust some of the bass, it doesn’t offer the customization you get with larger speakers.

If you’re looking for a more discreet speaker that can easily fit in your bag and take with you on the go, a smaller speaker is also a good choice. The Boom 2 is lightweight, but it takes up a fair amount of space and won’t easily fit into a small backpack.
Should I buy the Boom 2?
Overall, I highly recommend the Anker Soundcore Boom 2 speaker. Given the price, sound quality, battery life, and weight, it’s a great choice for a new speaker for the summer. I’ll definitely be taking this speaker to the beach and backyard get-togethers.
