It’s almost impressive how little Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) has done this season. House of the Dragonbut he certainly saw A few things.
Ever since arriving at Harrenhal on what will be his easiest conquest yet, Daemon has been plagued by strange hallucinations, including images of a young Rhaenyra (Millie Alcock), sex dreams with his deceased mother Alyssa (Emmeline Lambert), and a half-rotten version of his brother Viserys (Paddy Considine).
But in the final episode, Damon has a different type of vision, one in which he glimpses the future rather than the past. So what exactly did he see, and what does it mean?

What does Damon see in his vision?
When the demon touches the weirwood tree of Harrenhal, he sees a series of familiar images. game of thrones Fan favorites: Greensighted Brynden Rivers (aka Bloodraven), bastard Targaryen and mentor to Bran Stark; a shot of a White Walker standing in the forest; a dead dragon (the daemon Carax, perhaps?) on a battlefield littered with corpses; the daemon himself falling into the dark water; and finally, a flashback (or flashback, in the story’s timeline) of everyone’s favorite Targaryen conqueror Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), covered in ash and sitting with a dragon. forward) game of thrones The moment she literally becomes the Mother of Dragons (foreshadowing the moment in episode three when Rayna Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell) is cast away with a dragon egg, only for Daenerys to end up getting it over a century later).

After this quick cut, Daemon enters the throne room and sees Rhaenyra sitting on the Iron Throne. Helena (Fia Saban) then appears behind Daemon. “It’s all a story,” she says. “You’re only a small part of it. You know your part.”
Damon is finally on his way to bending the knee.

So what does Damon’s vision mean?
We have the knowledge of what is going to happen, game of thronesit’s clear that Damon is getting a glimpse of what Aegon saw in his much-talked-about dream from A Song of Ice and Fire: the threat of the White Walkers in the North and the need for Westeros to unite under a ruler of House Targaryen who sits on the Iron Throne to stop them.
Interestingly, Damon he It fits the picture. Alyss Rivers (Gale Ranking), the witch of Harrenhal, has already told him that he will die at Harrenhal. Could his vision of the battlefield and dead dragons, followed by a shot of himself falling into the water, be a vision of his own death? If so, would the demon vision also be Who He will be eager to catch a glimpse of Rhaenyra on the Iron Throne.
This is likely why he ultimately decides to kneel before Rhaenyra at Harrenhal and put his own desires aside: he was horrified by what he saw in his visions, and, as Helena says, now understands his role in the story.
