Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, is once again planning a controversial redesign of its platform.
X is currently testing removing the Like, Comment, and Repost buttons and their counts from replies to posts. View counts will also be removed from reply posts.
The tweet may have been deleted
The change to X has not yet been released, but was spotted by an X user in the code for the latest X app, X for iOS v10.53. translatorAny new features or platform changes discovered in this way may not necessarily be made public and may remain undisclosed, but this indicates that the company is seriously considering this move and is officially testing the removal of these buttons and counting.
Removing these features only affects how replies are displayed when viewing the original post: when a user clicks on a reply, they will see the Like, Comment, and Report buttons and views on the post page for that reply.

Unpopular changes to X
Removing interaction counts from replies will impact a social media meme known as “the ratio” and will undoubtedly change the culture of X. When a user publishes a controversial or unpopular post on X, the reply post from users who comment on the reply will often get more reposts and likes than the original post. This is known as “the ratio.”
Musk is no stranger to bringing about major cultural changes at X. Of course, the most obvious example is Twitter to X The slang term “tweet” for a post has been dropped.
Recently, the X on the mask got likes from all users. privateThe company acknowledged that the move was taken to protect users who liked controversial posts.
However, there are instances when X has reversed unpopular changes. Last year, X Deleted Musk removed the link headline from the post because he didn’t like the way it looked. Link previews without context caused problems on the platform, and X quickly Restored Return to viewing the headings.
Last month, a similar X test was discovered in the code of iOS app X. Deleted The Like, Comment, and Reply buttons will now be visible from the main original post when viewed in a feed. This change replaces the need for users to swipe left or right to interact with a post. At the time of publication, X has not yet made this feature live.
