MacBooks were the only product category left out of Apple’s most recent event, WWDC, in June. But they’re still on our radar this summer, as back-to-school season is one of the best times to buy a MacBook on sale.

Plus, if you’ve had your eye on a particular Apple product but it was out of your budget at launch (like the new MacBook Air in March), your best bet is to try again in a few months, as that’s when most Apple products get their first notable discounts. In the case of this week’s sale on our favorite MacBook, the discount exceeds the previous lowest sale price recorded back in July.

Why we like it

The M3 chip-equipped MacBook Air, just released in March 2024, has updated its own record low price, dropping from $898.99 in July to $849. Compared to the M2 Air, the M3 model has about 15% faster processing power, supports WiFi 6E, and can support up to two external displays even when the laptop lid is closed. Despite this large capacity, the M3 MacBook Air can run on a single charge for about 18 hours, making it very convenient to carry around. The 13-inch model introduced here weighs only 2.7 pounds.
