In 2020, AMC+ also began sharing content with the free streaming service Pluto TV, allowing fans to watch their favorite AMC or AMC Network-related shows without subscribing to AMC+ or a cable provider. There are several AMC Network-themed channels, one of which, Stories By AMC, airs many AMC shows, including “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.” The Paramount-owned Pluto TV continues to build its list of content partnerships, and the options have expanded since its launch. AMC is known for some unique shows, and The Walking Dead is near the top of that list. With multiple spinoffs and long-running extensions of original programming, AMC+ has and still does offer The Walking Dead catalog on its streaming service. However, fans can also enjoy Pluto TV’s The Walking Dead Universe channel, which also offers previous seasons of The Walking Dead, as well as other shows based on the comic book series.

Fans can enjoy hours of The Walking Dead for free. The Walking Dead Universe is one of the few FAST channels that AMC offers to third-party streamers like Pluto TV. Fear the Walking Dead is one of many spinoffs available on the Walking Dead Universe channel. It is set before the events of The Walking Dead and focuses on characters who were in Los Angeles at the time of the outbreak. The show finally featured characters that fans of The Walking Dead knew and loved, and showed the interconnectedness of the two shows.

“Fear the Walking Dead” previously aired on the AMC network on Sundays after “The Walking Dead,” allowing fans to enjoy the post-apocalyptic series back-to-back. The series starred Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis and Frank Dillane as a family trying to make sense of the changes in the world around them. Lennie James’ Morgan became a regular star as the series progressed, leading to “The Walking Dead.”

The 1980s Computer Boom Was the Coolest Thing Ever

Halt and Catch Fire is an acclaimed series on AMC that focuses on a ragtag group of computer programmers, engineers, and designers trying to build the best computer in 1980s Texas. With a Steve Jobs-Steve Wozniak vibe building sets in their garage, the characters explore the best way to build, brand, market, and sell their version of the future. A mix of old-time Japanese feudal society and a post-apocalyptic wasteland of the future, Into the Badlands is a three-season series that blends action, drama and sci-fi, casting aside guns in favor of close-combat weapons and swords again, and telling the story of a warrior and a boy who set out across the country in search of enlightenment.

Orphan Black

Tatiana Maslany is everywhere

Orphan Black: Echoes, a spinoff of the original Orphan Black, premiered on AMC in June of this year, but the original series is available to stream on Pluto TV’s Stories by AMC channel. The original series was produced by BBC America and ran for five seasons and 50 episodes. Tatiana Maslany, pre-She-Hulk, plays various clones trying to figure out how and why it all happened.

The show has a huge cult following known as the Clone Club and has received critical acclaim every season, Maslany won an Emmy Award for his performance in the series, and fans of the action and sci-fi genres have enjoyed the show for years.

The Spoils of Babylon

Best Parody

The IFC channel is also included in the Pluto TV catalog, and the On Slightly Off IFC channel is home to The Spoils of Babylon, a parody comedy miniseries that targets popular network television events from the 1980s. The Spoils of Babylon tells the story of an oil tycoon trying to rise in the world and enjoy power, wealth and fortune. It’s done in epic style, with epic backdrops, over-the-top acting and hysterical performances.

The series follows the miniseries style of production, with actors playing characters. Kristen Wiig was nominated for an Emmy for her performance, and Will Ferrell is the writer and director of the miniseries (within a show). Many popular actors make cameo appearances, including Michael Sheen, Molly Shannon, Haley Joel Osment, and David Spade.

Perhaps IFC’s most well-known production is the comedy sketch series Portlandia, starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. The show jumps from sketch to sketch, but frequently returns to Armisen and Brownstein playing versions of themselves as friends who share a house in Portland, Oregon. Both Armisen and Brownstein are known for their musical talents as well as comedy, which makes the show quirky and full of great music. The show can also be found on the On Slightly Off IFC channel.

Brockmire

Obscene, vulgar and ridiculous

Another show that airs on Pluto TV’s On Slightly Off IFC channel is Brockmire. It tells the story of acclaimed baseball announcer Jim Brockmire, played by Hank Azaria, as he tries to make his way back to the major leagues. He got fired from his job after having an emotional breakdown in the booth a few years ago, but after years of drink and drug use, he’s ready to reclaim his place as one of the best announcers in the business. Supporting characters include Amanda Peet and Tyrell Jackson Williams. The show is incredibly raunchy and funny, and aired for four seasons on IFC.

Filmed at Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey, “Comic Book Men” is a reality show that focuses on comic book fans and comic book culture. The Secret Stash is owned by Kevin Smith, director of films such as “Clerks,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Mallrats” and “Chasing Amy.” The show is set in a comic book store, where fans, employees and people passing by the store talk about what comic books mean to them. The show focuses on conversations between employees and customers, highlighting certain conversations, much like “Pawn Stars.” It airs on AMC’s Stories and has aired for seven seasons so far.
