According to Apple leaker Mark Gurman, the next generation of M4 Macs are on the way, with the first group of M4 Macs reportedly due to launch later this year (with a few other sets due next year).
We got a glimpse of that power when Apple unveiled the M4 chip alongside the iPad Pro, marking the first time the Cupertino-based tech giant has introduced an M-series chip in an iPad ahead of the Mac.

Why did Apple make this move? We don’t know the reason. Maybe Apple wanted to show us its amazing performance before putting it in a laptop or computer. Based on the internal performance numbers of the M4 iPad Pro, the M4 Mac is likely to surprise us.
So, let’s take a look at all the leaks and rumors we’ve been hearing about Macs in general.
M4 MacBook Pro
Similar to the M3 MacBook that debuted at last October’s “Scary Fast” event, the next M4 MacBook model is expected to arrive this year.

Apple reports that the M4 processor is 50% faster than the M2 CPU and offers four times the rendering performance.
M4 MacBook Pro release date
Gurman reported in April that the next MacBook Pro will be released later this year, though he didn’t give an exact date. It’s expected to be released before the M4 MacBook Air, which is scheduled for release in spring 2025.

This lines up with rumors from another prominent analyst, Ross Young, who said in a subscriber-only feed on his X (formerly Twitter) that Apple fans can expect the release of the M4 MacBook Pro “later this year.”
Historically, Apple has held its Mac events in October or November, so it’s likely the new M4 MacBook Pro will be unveiled around that time, but as BGR points out, October seems like the most likely date.
Mashable Lightspeed
According to Gurman, the entry-level M4 14-inch MacBook Pro will be released first, followed by new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the more powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, possibly in late 2024 or early 2025.
M4 MacBook Pro Design
There are no rumors yet about the design of the M4 MacBook Pro, but it’s unlikely to undergo any major changes. MacRumors reports that Apple plans to release a MacBook with a new OLED display in the future, but we can’t expect this until 2026.
M4 MacBook Air
Gurman said Apple is developing a new M4 MacBook Air model, but it won’t be released until next year.

The new 13.6-inch and 15-inch M4 MacBook Air models could be available next spring.
M4 iMac
According to Gurman, the new M4 24-inch iMac will be released in the second half of 2024, just like the M4 MacBook Pro.

Other than the date, there are no additional details.
M4 Mac mini
Here are some key details about the M4 Mac mini: It will come in two configurations, the M4 and the M4 Pro, and is expected to launch in late 2024 or early 2025, according to Gurman.

The Mac mini may not have a dramatic redesign, but it will be significantly smaller in size. The Mac mini hasn’t seen any major design changes since 2010. As 9to5Mac points out, it’s lost its DVD drive and its I/O options have changed, but it’s remained a consistent 7.7-inch aluminum slab. The new model is expected to be the smallest desktop Apple has ever made.
The case will reportedly be roughly the same size as an Apple TV, and the M4 Mac mini is expected to be slightly taller than the current generation, despite having a smaller overall footprint.
M4 Mac Studio
The M4 Mac Studio will also be refreshed, but it won’t be released until mid-2025, Gurman said.
M4 Mac Pro
April Bloomberg According to the aforementioned report, the next Mac Pro equipped with the M4 Ultra chip is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2025.
