Earlier this week, Disney Star Wars series Acolyte It was announced that the show would not return for a second season, leading to GamerGate-esque fans hemorrhaging praise, seeing the show’s cancellation as a capitulation to Lucasfilm’s harassment campaign against lead actress Amandla Stenberg. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Master Sol” actor Lee Jung-jae expressed his disappointment at the news but also praised creator Leslye Headland’s direction and the script and character creation.

I thought she was an incredible writer and director, and not only gifted at storytelling, but also at creating characters and creating meaningful structure within a story. So, personally, I was really looking forward to seeing season two with her at the helm.”
Despite Master Sol’s death, Lee hopes the pre-prequel era of the show will return in the future.
“I was personally pretty surprised to hear this news,” Lee continued. “Honestly, I’m hopeful that there might be some changes in the future because who knows what’s going to happen, so personally, I’m really hoping that we’ll see more of Leslie’s storyline in season two.”
