The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models are reportedly getting upgraded cameras. Brace yourself. Your tech buddies are about to get even more impatient. Apple has another event scheduled, which means the iPhone 16 is just around the corner.
Naturally, this means upgrading the camera, because Really It’s important.
iPhone 16: 5 rumored new features that might make you want to throw away your phone
We’ve been following the iPhone 16 rumors since the iPhone 15 was announced last September, and keeping up with them has felt like a full-time job. The buzz has been all about Apple Intelligence and how it will be integrated into the flagship device, with some snazzy new buttons and impressively slim bezels. But some of us think the big deal here is the camera.
For all you shutterbugs and Instagram addicts, we’ve rounded up three of the most exciting new camera features coming to the iPhone 16.
1. New Capture Button
Available for iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max
The most significant camera upgrade, other than the new ultra-wide-angle lens, is the introduction of the capture button.

The Action buttons on the iPhone 15 are great, but the Capture button takes it to the next level, giving you more control with less effort. It really kills two birds with one stone.

This new feature allows users to enhance the camera’s functionality through intuitive swipe gestures, making zooming in and out, focusing on a subject, and even more technical aspects like triggering the shutter smoother and more streamlined.
2. Night mode improvements
Available for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
A design refresh is always a crowd pleaser, and the new stacked rear camera design rumored to be coming to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models is no exception.
This is especially good news for all you night owls out there: the stacked design combined with Sony’s CMOS image sensor allows for enhanced light capture and a wider dynamic range, meaning significantly improved low-light photography.
3. New ultra-wide-angle sensor
Available for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max feature a 48MP ultra-wide camera, a significant upgrade from the current 12MP setup on the iPhone 15 Pro models, further improving their photography capabilities.

The new lens is expected to improve light gathering, which will allow for much better photography in low-light environments, and an Apple Insider report from late August provided solid support for this rumor.
Ultra-wide cameras are usually less sharp than their main cameras, and if this 48MP upgrade is genuine, it might finally solve some of those nagging issues with clarity and sharpness.
