How to share your location on Find My

The Find My app is great for tracking your Apple devices and AirTags. It’s saved me on many occasions when I’ve accidentally left my AirPods somewhere. It’s also great for tracking items that have AirTags on them, like purses and backpacks. However, you can also use the Find My app to share your location with your phone contacts, like friends and family.

In 2019, Apple merged the Find My app with Find My, which allows you to share your iPhone’s location with your contacts, such as family and friends, and vice versa, meaning that anyone you choose can see your location as long as you have your iPhone with you.

This feature was created with safety in mind. I’ve used it every time I travel internationally and it’s a great way to give a little peace of mind to trusted people who are worried about you while you’re away.

It’s quick and easy to set up and can be used on dates, at concerts, large events, or even when going out for a run. I find it super convenient when traveling with friends or family as it’s a great way to find each other in big cities or at conventions.

Apple’s Find My allows you to view the location of your Apple devices, find items with AirTags attached, and track the location of friends and family.

How to share your location with others

Your friends and family can also share their location by following these steps:

The Find My app works by sending your location to the contacts on your iPhone. When you send your location, the contacts you sent it to will be prompted to share their location with you.

To start the process, open the Find My app, which is automatically installed on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Follow these steps:

1. Open My Search App.

2. Selection People tab.

3. Tap Start sharing your location.

4. Search Select Contacts People with whom you want to share your location.

5. Hit send.

6. Decide how long you want to share your location. One hour left until the end of the day or Unlimited.

Your location will be shared with the contact. They will be able to see your name, location and distance.

The Find My app will notify your contacts who you shared your location with and ask if they want to share their location with you too. They can see your request in the People tab of the Find My app. If they accept, you and your contact will be able to track each other’s location.

You can also see each other’s locations in the Messages app. When you go to a contact who’s shared their location with you, you’ll see their location under their name. When you tap their profile icon, you’ll see where they are on a map and have the option to get directions to them in Apple Maps.

How to stop sharing your location with a contact

To stop sharing your location with a contact, people Open the Find My app tab and swipe right on a contact’s name. You’ll see a trash icon. Tap it to remove location sharing with that person.

Or, go to the Contacts or Messages app, select a contact, and tap Stop sharing your location.

How to set up notifications

Let your friends and family know when you get home safely

People you share your location with have a few different notification options. For example, a friend picked me up from the train station, so I set up a notification for my location when I arrived.

You can add notifications when the contacts you track leave or enter a specific location. When you add a notification, your contacts will receive a notification to let them know that it has been done. We recommend that you always discuss this with your family and friends before setting up notifications for them.

“Notify Me” sets up notifications for your contacts when they arrive or leave a specific location. “Notify Contact” sets up notifications for your contacts when you arrive or leave a specific location. You can also choose how often you want to be notified: “Just Once” or “Every Time”.

To set up notifications:

1. Tap Contacts I want to add a notification.

2. Scroll down notification.

3. Selection addition.

4. Selection Notify me or Notify your contacts.

5. choice Select the notification option you want,[追加]Click

If you want to delete a notification you created, tap on the notification under the Notifications tab, scroll down and delete it.

Location information management

You can turn off location sharing in just a few easy steps.

The Find My app gives you control over when you share your location and whether you can receive location sharing requests.

To access these options, go to the “Me” tab at the bottom right of the Find My app. There you’ll see three options: “My Location,” “My Location via Satellite,” and “Notifications.”

My Location

In the Location tab, you can turn off location sharing or edit the name of your location. For example, if you’re at home, you can label your location as Home. You can also do this when you’re at work, the gym, or school. You can also add a custom label, such as a train station or a local coffee shop.

My position by satellite

This setting allows you to share your location via satellite when you don’t have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Only some iPhones have satellite connectivity.

notification

The only option here is Allow Friend Requests. You can toggle it on or off. Turning it off will stop your contacts from requesting to share their location. To create a location alert for yourself or your contacts, follow the steps above.
