Parts of Antarctica are turning green faster than expected, with researchers warning that climate change could lead to a devastating influx of invasive species.
“We were shocked by the scale of the greening trend we found,” says Tom Rowland of the University of Exeter, UK. “The rate of change we are seeing in terms of increased vegetation cover is alarming, and alarmingly it is accelerating.”
