A few years ago, I spent an exciting but interesting day visiting two of Europe’s most advanced waste treatment facilities: a state-of-the-art dump near Espoo, Finland, and a power plant near Vantaa. I spent it. Together, they play a vital role in Helsinki’s push towards a circular economy, with every scrap of the city’s municipal waste being recycled or converted into energy and heat, meaning that nothing sent to landfill is Nothing. I remember thinking, “How wonderful, I wish we could do that too.”
