Donald Trump began the process of withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO) in one of his first executive orders as president. One year’s notice is required to withdraw from the International Public Health Organization, at which point the United States will cease funding. The impact could be significant. In recent years, the United States has contributed nearly one-fifth of the WHO’s $6.8 billion budget.
