What we know about the Meta Quest 3S
The Quest 3 set a new standard for mixed reality headsets, and now the company is trying to make it more affordable.
“These changes will begin rolling out in the U.S. and Canada on a trial basis starting next month, and we’ll continue to improve the experience over time,” Mehta said.
The older Meta Quest 2 will also receive this AI update, but won’t get the more advanced Meta AI with vision capabilities that are exclusive to the new hardware.
The company also confirmed plans to discontinue the existing voice command functionality built into its Quest headsets, but we’ll have to wait for more details on that.

2024 is likely to be the year of AI
Meta first introduced its Meta AI platform last year, with the technology first appearing in the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. With Meta having a number of its own VR headsets under its belt, it was only a matter of time before the company’s AI would make its way to Quest hardware.
2024 is proving to be a big year for AI, with some of the tech giants touting continued advancements in the field: Microsoft is betting big on Copilot, Google is pushing Gemini, and Apple recently announced its own AI brand, which it’s calling Apple Intelligence.
Meanwhile, Meta continues to work on improving its VR solutions and used the opportunity to review enhanced AI capabilities, including support for seven additional languages and new creative tools.
