Adobe has added a new feature to its Lightroom photo editing platform called Generative Remove, powered by Adobe’s generative AI model, Firefly, that enables novice and hobbyist photo editors to selectively remove elements from a photo and make the replaced content blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
The recent introduction of Generative Remove highlights three key reasons why Lightroom is a powerful photo editing suite for non-professionals:
Easy to clean
With Generative Remove, Lightroom users can simply trace or swipe their mouse over objects, people, or anything that gets in the way of a well-composed photo, and the tool will automatically recognize what’s unwanted and remove it from the image. No need to outline elements — Generative Remove knows what you’re pointing out and how to get rid of it.
Additionally, the AI engine can generate ultra-realistic backgrounds and even mimic complex patterns like paisley based on the visual information in a photo.

Studio-level lens effects
Lightroom comes with Lens Blur, a tool that lets you add professional lens effects to your photos in post-production. With this feature, you can achieve the soft-focus and macro lens look and feel associated with studio photography on the output of any camera or smartphone.
There are also seven presets to choose from, making it easy for even beginners to apply these dreamy effects to their photos.

Adobe knows that so many of today’s photos are taken and viewed on smartphones, so they built a fully mobile-optimized UI for their Lightroom app, empowering creators to manage their photo production from start to finish, all on the mobile app, including Generative Remove.
