Less than a month left Agatha All Along‘s two-episode Disney+ debut and I’m looking forward to walking the witch’s path with Kathryn Hahn’s breakout film WandaVision But among the cast of fan favorites (Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, Debra Jo Rupp), there’s one character who will have Marvel readers playing detective and trying to figure out his true nature: Joe Locke “Teen.” Agatha The teaser gives us just a few hints that support the general theory.
“Agatha, I have a confession to make. I know an awful lot about you,” the teen says. “Ever since I first read about your time in Salem, I’ve been fascinated by you, which is why I rescued you from the curse.” With this tidbit of information, we’re treated to a glimpse of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff at the height of her Scarlet Witch powers.
“Who are you?” Agatha asks, just as curious as we are. “I am,” he begins to answer, but as fans would expect, a spell closes his mouth when he utters a name that starts with a “B.” “Billy Kaplan,” also known as Wiccan, is a young Avenger who is the reincarnation of Billy Maximoff, one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons. The character was erased from existence at the end of the series. WandaVision— a loss that contributed greatly to Wanda’s mental breakdown Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness— but in the comics, at least, the boys were eventually reincarnated and took on the superhero identities of Wiccan and Speed.
“interesting” is Agatha’s response to Teen not being able to reveal her true identity, and the editing suggests that Marvel is fully aware that fans are having fun trying to work out the identity of Locke’s character. “If you make it to the end, the road will give you what you desire most,” Teen continues. It’s clear that Agatha wants her magical powers back, and the trailer hints at “power, betrayal and revenge,” hinting at some very surreal imagery and a cheeky sense of humor. Plus: The GooniesA windy sense of adventure and musical numbers!
