ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) is a function that detects and cancels external sounds.
On Apple’s website, explain ANC works like this: “Outward-facing microphones detect external sounds, then AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation) or AirPods Max use noise reduction to cancel them before you hear them. Inward-facing microphones listen inside your ear for unwanted internal sounds, then AirPods Pro or AirPods Max use noise reduction to cancel them too.”
The notable leak here is that Apple will improve ANC in the upcoming AirPods Pro 3 and will bring ANC to the new base model AirPods 4 for the first time.
Costami didn’t say when the new AirPods would be released, but all signs point to a September Apple event. Apple has also started holding events in October, but those seem to be reserved exclusively for Mac announcements. The new AirPods announcement would likely coincide with the company’s big annual iPhone event in September.
