The boom in animated video games continues to thrive even amid the recent economic downturn, as Amazon is joining the production team behind a Netflix animated sci-fi anthology series. According to Deadline, Prime Video is working with Tim Miller and Blur Studios to Secret Levelis an anime anthology series meant to bolster its lineup of adult anime. Little is still known about the series, but industry sources say the show will feature multiple video game franchises throughout the episodes, including some indie platform/roguelikes. It’ll be interesting to see what scale this show will take, but it’s already an intriguing idea, especially if it can provide a platform for dramatization of game series that are being pushed to explore formats outside of games that don’t necessarily follow a long-form TV adaptation.
