Key Takeaways
- Anker’s MagGo Power Bank shows detailed battery information on the display.
- The power bank charges via USB-C and can quickly charge your device from 0-100%.
- The MagGo’s large capacity and weight make it perfect for travel, but its bulk makes it less suitable for everyday use.
Unfortunately, I’m one of those people who uses an iPhone a lot and finds that my battery is chronically low late every day in the evening. As someone with experience repairing cell phones, I also know that iPhone batteries degrade over time, exacerbating the problem. This can be solved with a good external battery, but from my years of experience, I remember when those batteries were terrible and at some point I stopped using them. However, I recently had the chance to try out Anker’s newest MagSafe-compatible power bank, Anker’s MagGo Power Bank. Thankfully, it’s a game changer for long travel days.

Pricing, Availability and Specifications
Anker’s MagGo Power Bank retails for $89.99 and is available at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target, as well as directly from the mobile accessory manufacturer. This latest magnetic power bank from Anker is MagSafe-enabled and Qi2 compatible. Qi2 is the latest standard from the Wireless Power Consortium, first released in 2023. This allows the Anker MagGo to deliver up to 15W of wireless charging power to Qi2-enabled devices. Qi2 uses a magnetic alignment system similar to that found in Apple’s MagSafe standard, which helps ensure proper alignment when wirelessly charging. The Qi2 charging standard will undoubtedly become popular at some point, but as of the writing of this review, there are no Android smartphones that natively support Qi2. So, for now, the Anker MagGo Power Bank is only compatible with iPhone 12 and newer iPhone models.
In addition to wireless charging, the MagGo also functions as a standard external power bank, allowing you to charge your devices with a single USB-C port. This same port used to charge the MagGo can also charge devices via a USB-C cable. Anker claims that the MagGo can charge the iPhone 15 at speeds of 27W, allowing it to go from 0% to 60% battery in 30 minutes.
The MagGo Power Bank has a display on the side that shows the time until full charge, and when charging your device, it will show the remaining battery life in hours and percentage of battery remaining.
What I like about the Anker MagGo power bank
Easy to use
The Anker MagGo Power Bank is the most user-friendly and versatile wireless charging power bank I’ve tested. The magnetic arrangement worked seamlessly with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and charging began as soon as I attached the MagGo to the back.
The display on the side of the MagGo was something I’d never seen before. Usually, the only way to check the battery level on a power bank is to press a small button and see a series of illuminated lights that indicate a rough (but not exact) level of battery life. I liked that while you’re charging your phone, the display shows you how much charge time the power bank has left. It’s also nice to see the time go down at first as your phone works to maximize charging speed.
Travel-friendly design
The Anker MagGo Power Bank has a convenient kickstand that makes it incredibly stable on a flat surface, so you can keep scrolling or watch videos in landscape mode while charging. MagGo’s USB-C port makes it easy to charge multiple devices at the same time. The battery pack can wirelessly charge your iPhone while also charging your AirPods over USB, making it easy to keep up with your calls on the go at the end of a long day.

What I didn’t like about the Anker MagGo Power Bank
The only drawback is that it’s bulky
It goes without saying that a 10,000mAh capacity power bank will be larger and heavier than one with a smaller capacity, but it’s still worth considering when deciding if a power bank is right for you. I used the Anker MagGo primarily at my desk, at home, and in the car. I tried several times to put my phone with the MagGo in my pocket, but it was too heavy for comfort.
Weighing just over half a pound, the MagGo fits into a large bag that’s just right for a day at the beach or lake, though you’ll likely have trouble slipping it into a jacket pocket, clutch bag, or pants pocket.
Should you buy Anker’s MagGo Power Bank?
I will definitely be taking the Anker MagGo power bank with me on future trips, but it is a bit bulky so I don’t think it will be an everyday carry item. The 10,000 mAh Anker MagGo is a no-brainer purchase for frequent travelers, college students, outdoorsmen, or anyone who is always on the go.
For uses that don’t require as much battery power, like an evening show, a long office shift, or emergency backup, a thinner, smaller capacity power bank may be a better choice.
