Bloomberg reports that the new Mac Mini will be “closer to the Apple TV box,” meaning it’ll be about 3.66 inches tall and wide.
The Mac Mini may be a little taller than before, but complaining about a few millimeters of height is probably a matter of obsessing over the wrong thing. What’s more important are ports, and the new little computer is likely to have three USB-C ports, a power connector, and an HDMI port.
Apple jumped on the AI craze with the release of the M4. The M4 is a more powerful chip than the M3, but the difference is negligible. It has one more core and thread, and a faster GPU speed, but in our own testing, we didn’t find a huge difference between the M4 in the iPad and the M3 in the MacBook Air. This is a very rough comparison given the difference in the OS, so we’ll have to wait for the M4 with macOS to make a real comparison. According to Gurman’s sources, like the M3, Apple may release an M4 Pro version of the Mac Mini, which won’t arrive until October. There’s no further information about the M4 Max, which could be in the ultra-high-end MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and Mac Studios.
