Audi Q6 E-tron review: Pricing, specs, availability

The operating system is well-developed and generally easy to use, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag in terms of functionality. And it doesn’t stop there: the Edition 1 model comes with an extra 10.9-inch display for the passenger, capable of streaming YouTube, showing navigation and changing music. This is a nice innovation, but we found it a bit limiting. For example, navigation works well, but it doesn’t make sense when it’s displayed next to the main screen.

Plus, the HUD comes with augmented reality: Part of the pricey Sound and Vision Pack option, the HUD overlays directional indicators onto the road ahead of the driver and also displays regular HUD features like speed, speed limit, and turn-by-turn signals as the driver moves.

With the driver assistance system switched on, it will show you dangers in red if you are too close to the edge of the road, if you are approaching the speed limit and need to brake, and it will also give you a braking warning to avoid hitting the car in front of you.

I’m sure all of this becomes less noticeable with use, but the overall feeling is more overwhelming than helpful. The Chat GPT integrated Audi voice assistant may be able to help you with how to use it, but this reviewer would rather just turn it all off and enjoy a comfortable ride.

The interior is otherwise comfortable, albeit with a few too many cheap-looking plastics, particularly in the doors, where there are large plastic inlays that operate the windows and a plastic storage section that feels very out of place. The SQ6’s standard nappa leather, diamond-stitched seats are very attractive, but not for the cost.

For comparison, prices start at £64,200 ($81,200) for the Q6 e-tron and rise significantly to £92,950 ($117,500) for the top-of-the-line SQ6.

The Q6 and SQ6 e-tron haven’t reinvented the wheel, and while they’re quick in a straight line, they’re not as sporty as advertised. What these cars excel at is their effortless ride and class-leading range, but honestly, that’s probably more important than that, they’ve shifted the goalposts slightly but surely.
