They’ve traveled back in time, gone to hell, and saved the universe, and now Bill & Ted are taking their scariest journey yet: to Broadway. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, stars of the time-traveling film trilogy, will be reuniting for a classic stage play next year. Waiting for Godot By Samuel Beckett.
“We are so thrilled to be sharing the stage with the great Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays,” the actors said in a joint statement. Romeo and Juliet He will oversee the production alongside Tom Holland.
Surprisingly, Reeves has never appeared on Broadway before, despite being a Hollywood megastar for over 30 years; Winter has, but that was decades ago. In the play, Reeves plays Estragon and Winter plays Vladimir, and the two friends are waiting to meet the same person, who – spoiler alert – never turns up. Meanwhile, the two discuss various things and explore the ups and downs of their relationship and friendship.
We’ll likely be seeing and hearing a lot more from Reeves before the show kicks off next year, as he stars in a body-swap movie.
