
Blinking doesn’t just keep your eyes healthy

Blinking serves an important physiological function by clearing the eyes of debris and keeping them lubricated. But now scientists have discovered that it may also play a cognitive role.
(In 1945, Arthur Hall of the University of Sheffield in England reported how often people blinked while reading aloud, and found that it roughly corresponded to the breaks in the print. He suggested it could help you pause while reading.
