Borderlands’ First Clip Is a Bunch of Bloodless Bull(et)crap

Gearbox Borderlands The game is known for many things, but perhaps the biggest of them all is its sense of humor. Borderlands 2 It was here that the franchise’s comedy sensibilities really took shape, and ever since then, the series has been full of humor, mostly in the vein of vulgar humor or internet humor. Live-action filmand that first clip is… well, just as it is.

Lionsgate is IGN Fan Fest A new clip from the film shows series mascot Claptrap (voiced by Jack Black) spitting out a ton of bullets, and while it’s thankfully not too long, it’s still a bit odd and more enjoyable if you’re in tune with the game’s overall sense of humor (which can be genuinely funny at times, even outside of the highly rated games). Tales from the Border (A spin-off!) If not… well, I have that image in my head, so sorry.

Borderlands (2024) Exclusive Look – Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black

On the bright side, the rest of the clip features Vault Hunters Roland (Kevin Hart), Tanis (Jamie Lee Curtis), Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Krieg (Florian Muntoh), and Lilith (Cate Blanchett) confronts a group of attackers. This is the most BorderlandsThis fight isn’t significantly shortened because no one uses class skills, making it the shortest in the entire clip. If you need something to obsess over in this movie, look no further than Blanchett. She seems to do a great job of imitating a sci-fi gunslinger, and the movie seems to know that, as she’s the one most involved in the fight.

The bigger issue here may be that the clip is just too sterile. Borderlands The game is not that bloody Mortal Kombat or Gears of War, But their approach to violence is so cartoonish because the guns are so insanely goofy. There needs to be more flavor here. We need one of these guys with a gun that melts these raiders, electrocutes them, or sets them on fire. (In later games there are guns with two attributes, so maybe a combination of all three?)

Borderlands hits theaters on August 9th, and by then, hopefully, the film will resemble the game more in those key ways: its lovably silly violence and humor that feels intentional.
