Book now: Due to be available in mid-September, the new Lunar Lake-powered Dell XPS 13 is available for preorder now on the Dell website starting at $1,399.99.
Dell’s smallest XPS machine has been upgraded with the new Intel Core Ultra 200V processor, and pre-orders start today.
The US tech giant announced on Tuesday that its new XPS 13 laptop will be equipped with its latest “Lunar Lake” CPUs, which feature a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for seamlessly handling AI functions like content generation and editing. Dell’s website says the laptop can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V processor, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, and at the time of writing is due to ship from September 19th.

AI isn’t new territory for the XPS 13. Dell has been selling a “CoPilot+ PC” version of the thin 13-inch laptop with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X-series CPU since mid-2024. This new model will support the same Windows AI features, but should be slightly better optimized for them, with up to 48 TOPS (tera operations per second) of AI performance compared to the Snapdragon chip’s 45 TOPS. And, more importantly for most people, it won’t run into the same Arm-related app compatibility issues.

Aside from the CPU, the new XPS 13 is essentially identical to its predecessor. Both the keyboard and glass tactile touchpad extend edge-to-edge and are available in the same monochromatic graphite and platinum finishes. You can also upgrade to a tandem OLED display (like Apple’s latest iPad Pro), a brighter and more power-efficient option than traditional OLED displays. The OLED model is just 0.58 inches thin and weighs 2.6 pounds, while the FHD+ and QHD+ configurations are 0.6 inches and 2.7 pounds.
Dell claims the XPS 13 will have an FHD+ display and up to 26 hours of battery life, which is longer than the 18 hours on the previous Intel-powered model but an hour shorter than the Snapdragon version (at least in theory). (As with any laptop, testing may vary.)
It remains to be seen whether Dell’s other 14-inch and 16-inch XPS laptops will feature the same Intel Core Ultra 200V series. When asked about the fate of those products, a company representative told Mashable that “it is[Dell’s]policy not to discuss future products or roadmaps.”
