Key Takeaways
- Disney+ appeals to a variety of age groups with classic movies, series, and documentaries, but it doesn’t offer a free trial.
- You can find great deals on Disney+ in bundles with Hulu or ESPN+, or by taking advantage of discounts like military discounts and Verizon offers.
- Disney+ offers a variety of plans, the most affordable being Basic (with ads) for $7.99 per month and Premium (without ads) for $13.99 per month.
With Walt Disney Company now owning not only Pixar but also Marvel, National Geographic, 21st Century Fox and several other companies, Disney+ is more than just a platform for streaming classic animated movies for kids. With series like Star Wars and Marvel, remakes of classics like the live-action Little Mermaid and Aladdin, Pixar hits like Up and Inside Out, and National Geographic documentaries, Disney+ appeals to a wide range of ages and interests. However, despite being a popular streaming service, Disney+ doesn’t even offer a basic free trial, which leaves many potential subscribers wondering, “Is there a way to get Disney+ for free? How can I get Disney+ for a good price?”

Disney+ is now cheaper in the UK, but there’s a catch
Disney+ has changed its subscription plans in the UK and Europe and now offers three options, one of which is cheaper than the original plan.
Disney+’s starting price of $7.99 is cheaper than competitors like Netflix, but many fans need multiple streaming services to watch all of their favorite shows. Finding a good deal on Disney+ can be hard, but discounted bundle options aren’t. Now that Disney owns Hulu, subscribers can bundle the two streaming services together for just $2 more on top of the base price of Disney+ alone. However, there are a few other discounts that Disney doesn’t regularly advertise, and military discounts are one of them.
How much does Disney+ cost?
Disney+ starts at about $8 per month if you don’t mind ads.

The most affordable Disney+ plan is Basic (with ads), which costs $7.99 per month. However, depending on your streaming preferences, you can get discounts by bundling Disney+ with the company’s other services, such as Hulu or ESPN+. The same Basic ad-supported subscription can be bundled with Hulu for an extra $2 per month, or bundled with Hulu and ESPN+ for $14.99 per month.
If you find the ads annoying or want to download shows, you’ll end up paying significantly more: ad-free Disney+ Premium costs $13.99 a month, $19.99 for Hulu, and $24.99 for the ad-free plans for Hulu and ESPN+.

How to get Disney+ for free
Can you really get Disney+ for free? In a way
Unlike many streaming services, Disney+ doesn’t offer a free trial, meaning most viewers can’t get Disney+ for free. Disney+ subscribers can stream on up to four devices simultaneously, but password sharing is only allowed between members of the same household, meaning if you don’t live together, sharing a password is against the rules.
Most people can’t get Disney+ for free, but there are a few exceptions.
- Disney Parks employees receive a free streaming bundle as part of their employment contract, and this applies to both full-time and hourly employees at Disney World and Disneyland.
- Some companies are offering Disney+ for free when you sign up for certain services — Verizon, for example, ran a promotion in the past where you could get six months of the popular streaming platform for free.
- Spectrum TV subscribers can also get Disney+ Basic (with ads) for free on TV Select and above packages.

How to get Disney+ deals and discounts
The key to a great Disney+ deal is bundling
As well as there being no free trial, Disney+ doesn’t offer a student discount. One way to get a discount on Disney+ is to pay for a year up front instead of monthly, however this is only an option for the more expensive ad-free plan; new subscribers to ad-supported plans only have the monthly option.
The main legal way to get Disney+ at a discount is by bundling it with another service or company. In addition to Disney+, the Walt Disney Company also owns Hulu and ESPN. Naturally, if you want multiple streaming services, the company offers bundles. For example, if you already subscribe to Hulu, adding Disney+ will only cost you $2 per month.
Disney also has a long-standing deal with Verizon, which means new and existing Verizon customers can get the Disney+ streaming service bundled with their phone bill, potentially saving you some money. If you’re already a Verizon customer, it’s worth checking out their plans to see if you can get the streaming service for less than you’d pay for the subscriptions separately.
Another company that offers a Disney+ bundle is Spectrum TV. Disney+ is included in their Select bundle, so if you’re already a subscriber, you might be able to access Disney+ for free. However, the Select bundle starts at $64.99, so it’s not a way to get a lower price on Disney+ unless you’re already a subscriber or really need cable TV.
Disney is also offering a discount to eligible U.S. military personnel, who can receive a 25% discount on an annual Disney+ plan.

Does Disney+ offer a free trial?
Streaming giant ends 7-day free trials
While the company previously offered a 7-day free trial, Disney+ no longer offers a free trial. If you’re not sure how much you’ll watch, Disney+ offers subscriptions starting at $7.99 per month. These subscriptions can be canceled at any time, so it’s pretty easy to try it out for a month and see if the content is worth the recurring cost. Disney+ also lets you change your plan later, meaning you can start with the basic plan and upgrade to the ad-free plan later if you want.
