Elon Musk has spoken about fighting Mark Zuckerberg physically again, but with no plans in motion to actually do so, it looks like the owner of X/Twitter is left barking and doing nothing.
In the video posted on X Fox News According to reporter Kelly Phares, Musk has said he wouldn’t mind being bashed by the Mehta CEO, and the two billionaires spent much of last year hinting at a possible cage fight, but nothing came of it.
“I’ll fight Zuckerberg anytime, anywhere, by any rules,” Musk declared on Wednesday, in a stunningly misplaced display of bravado.
Zuckerberg responded to the news in a thread, simply saying, “Are we really doing this again?”

While Musk began planning the Billionaire Cage Match in July of last year, Zuckerberg has publicly practiced mixed martial arts (MMA) for years — he’s won multiple medals in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) tournaments — and his passion for combat sports was listed as a risk to the business in Meta’s annual report filed in February.
However, despite his relative lack of training, Musk has previously expressed belief he could beat Zac simply because of his heavier weight, “At least £300.” (136 kilograms). Last May, Zuckerberg won a medal in the featherweight division of a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament, which has a weight limit of 154.5 pounds (70 kilograms).
But again, Zuckerberg wins medal at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournamentThe month after the incident, Musk said he “very rarely exercises except for picking up my kids and throwing them in the air.”
To be fair, Musk isn’t the only normal guy who harbors a bizarre and unfounded belief that he can beat aspiring athletes in his sport of choice, but that doesn’t mean it’s not embarrassing.

A brief history of Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg’s billionaire cage match
Musk’s bold claim that he’s willing to go “anywhere, anytime, under any rules” is clearly an exaggeration — he probably wouldn’t agree to a gunfight at dawn — but his past actions raise serious questions about whether he’s really willing to take on Zuckerberg.
The SpaceX CEO was the first to hint at the possibility of a fight himself, telling X in June last year, “If[Zuckerberg]is up for a cage match, so am I.” While many dismissed it as a joke, Zuckerberg responded by screenshotting the post on his Instagram Story and telling Musk to “send me your location.”
“Vegas Octagon,” Musk wrote on X, “I have this amazing move I call ‘The Walrus’ where I just lie on my opponent and do nothing.”
The nonchalant response seemed to suggest that Musk had no intention of getting into a fistfight with Zuckerberg — and indeed, the matter could have easily ended there — but then in early August, Musk announced that he would be livestreaming the fistfight with Zuckerberg on X for charity.
This was clearly new news for Zuckerberg, who was quick to clarify that arrangements for a Musk vs. Zuckerberg fight were not set in stone. The Facebook co-founder suggested “a more credible platform where we can actually raise money for charity,” and revealed that when Musk first proposed the fight back in June, he had suggested the date of August 26. Unfortunately, more than a month later, Musk has still not confirmed the date.
“I have no expectations,” Zuckerberg wrote in the thread.
In his X post, Musk said the fight date is “fluid” and that he may need surgery. But Zuckerberg said Musk had asked for private practice rounds before taking on a public fight, suggesting it’s not a health issue that’s keeping him from getting in the ring. Pre-fight practice matches are not standard practice in MMA.
Musk confirmed that he had requested a practice round by August 26, and even declared his intention to show up to fight Zuckerberg at his Palo Alto home on August 14, even though Zuckerberg was not in the city at the time.
“I suggested a real date,” Zuckerberg wrote, “and (Ultimate Fighting Championship president) Dana White suggested making this an official tournament for charity. Elon wouldn’t set a date, saying he needed surgery and would now like to play practice rounds in my backyard instead. If Elon is serious about a real date and an official event, he’ll know how to contact me. If not, it’s time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing against people who take the sport seriously.”
Musk said Zuckerberg “chicken,” This seems pretty hypocritical coming from a guy who’s trying desperately to avoid the fight he proposed. Until we see the two men go head-to-head, the tales of the billionaires’ quarrel are likely nothing more than Musk’s chest-puffing fabrication.
