First of all, yes, this is pretty obvious to anyone used to cell phones, but the iPad was pretty limited in terms of the home screen and the widgets you could place on it. Since iPadOS 17, you can now customize the lock screen and home screen background by long-pressing the lock screen. Of course, you can also change the wallpaper, but you can also add a selection of widgets to the lock screen, change the date and time font and color, and prefer between preset dark and light modes with two buttons. You can also set It’s on the bottom right.

All of the preset wallpapers are very nice, but my personal favorite is the astronomy version. You can switch between the Earth, the Moon, or other planets of the solar system. If it reminds you of iOS, that’s the point.

You can also customize your home screen widgets. These widgets are interactive. This means that you can click on any part of the widget to mark a reminder or turn on a light without having to open a separate app. You can find all available widgets by long-pressing on the home screen and once it appears, press the plus button in the top right corner of the screen. Yes, it’s all really basic, but to get the most out of your new iPad, it’s important to start with the simple things.
