Since its launch, Fujifilm’s Instax Mini Link printers have been able to print photos taken with your phone onto instant film, but the latest in the series adds photo booth-like features and augmented reality effects. Announced on Tuesday, the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 3 redesigns the portable printer and adds new features to its companion app.
Like its predecessor, the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 3 burns digital photos onto instant film, then uses Bluetooth to wirelessly send photos from your phone to the printer. The company says it only takes about 15 seconds to print, with the film taking about 90 seconds to fully develop.
As mentioned above, the Mini Link 3 features a new design. The textured, compact printer uses new LED lights to indicate battery level and print status. The Mini Link 3 retains the compact size of its predecessor while using film printing technology with a rechargeable battery good for 100 prints.

Instax Mini Link 3 integrates new AR app features
These are for new printers only
In addition to a refreshed design, the Mini Link 3 also integrates several new features through Fujifilm’s companion app: Instax AiR Studio allows users to add augmented reality items, such as 3D stickers and backgrounds, to the live view of the camera feed. Augmented reality images can then be printed or shared on social media.
The second new software tool is “Click to Collage,” a photo booth-like feature that takes six photos at three-second intervals that can then be printed onto film as a collage or turned into an animation to share on social media.
The new features mix retro instant film with a modern twist of taking photos decorated with stickers. “Photography is about expressing yourself,” Fujifilm’s Bin Reem said in a press release. “With the Mini Link 3, users don’t just have a printer to print images from their smartphones. When used with the app, it’s also a creativity tool that lets users imaginatively customize images as they create memories. The Mini Link 3 does more than just print instant photos; it brings the fun back into your life.”
Fujifilm says that the app-based updates are only available for the Mini Link 3 and will not be available for older printers.
At launch, the Instax Mini Link 3 will be available in three colors: rose pink, clay white, and sage green. The printer will be available later this month for $99.95. The Mini Link 3 is compatible with Instax Mini-type film, including a new design sprinkled in the classic white border.
