Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro: Release date, specs, new features, and other rumors

The Google Pixel 9 and Google Pixel 9 Pro are set to launch at the Made by Google event on August 13, and the question is, how will they differ from their predecessors?

I don’t know about you, but I’d love to see Google go further by introducing new features that will give it an edge over its competitors, but leaks and rumors suggest that the Pixel 9 series will be “playing catch-up” to some of the biggest names on the market.

We can’t keep you all in suspense for too long, so here are the rumors we’re hearing about the Google Pixel 9 and Google Pixel 9 Pro.

Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro release dates

The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are expected to be unveiled on August 13 at the search engine giant’s Made by Google event.

This comes as a surprise, as Google typically launches its Pixel phones in the fall.

For reference, here are the release dates for the previous devices:

• Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro – October 6, 2023

• Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – October 19, 2023

This isn’t the first time Google has introduced an “XL” smartphone – the last time we saw an “XL” device was with the Pixel 5 series, and we haven’t seen one since.

Rumors are also circulating that the Google Pixel 9 will come in pink, according to a leak spotted on Instagram.

• New “Adaptive Touch” feature that adjusts the display’s sensitivity depending on the surrounding environment

Google’s next big event is Google I/O, but don’t expect the search engine giant to launch any Pixel 9 devices there.
