Key Takeaways
- Google’s Pixel 9 series of smartphones has officially arrived.
- The company unveiled its latest hardware portfolio at its annual “Made By Google” event.
- Great trade-in offers worth up to $760 on Pixel 9 series devices are available now on the Google Store.
With Google’s 2024 hardware keynote now officially over, the company has updated its storefront to include a slew of pre-order offers for the new Pixel 9 series.
If you’re thinking about buying Google’s latest Pixel 9 device, there’s a particularly attractive trade-in option available that could ease some of the strain on your wallet.
The Google Store is offering up to $760 back on a Pixel 9 series device if you trade in your old Pixel phone. The fine print reiterates that the offer doesn’t include the trade-in value offered on carrier plans, and that the claim for the value of your old phone is based on buying an unlocked Pixel phone from the Google Store.
Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro introduces a new angular design, Tensor G4 chip, and new AI features like Pixel Screenshots to Google’s flagship smartphone line. It will be available from September 4th.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold might be the best foldable phone I’ve ever used.
Google’s latest foldable smartphone addresses almost all of the Pixel Fold’s shortcomings.
The trade-in offer is valid from August 13 to August 28, ending at 11:59 pm PST. “Phone sent for trade-in must be received within 30 days of the start of the trade-in process, unless the purchased device is returned during that period,” Google said.
Google’s storefront has a ton of additional pre-order offers listed that are worth checking out if you’re planning on being an early adopter of the Pixel 9. Pre-orders of the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will come with Google Store credit bonuses of $100, $200, and $350, respectively.
Another early adopter perk, which Google mentioned onstage during the event, is a free one-year subscription to Gemini Advanced. The offer applies to the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but unfortunately not the standard Pixel 9. The deal is valid for activated devices until October 31, 2025, so it’s not as time-sensitive as some of the other new offers.

Google Pixel 9 event recap: Top 5 things you missed
Google’s 2024 Pixel 9 hardware event has concluded, and there were a ton of exciting announcements.
Google’s hardware portfolio is stronger than ever
Alongside the Pixel 9 series of smartphones, a new smartwatch and new wireless earphones were also announced.
Google has come a long way over the years when it comes to its hardware offerings, and the company’s 2024 lineup is arguably its strongest yet. Fans of small smartphones will appreciate the decision to offer the Pixel 9 Pro in a 6.3-inch configuration, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold looks like a big step up from the original Fold.
If you’re currently using a Pixel 8 or Pixel 7 device, there’s probably nothing compelling here to justify a hardware upgrade — the flat-screen smartphone market is all but stagnant, after all — but if you have an older model or are looking to switch to a foldable phone, Google’s trade-in discounts are hard to ignore.
