Climate models are underestimating the likelihood of heatwaves in some regions, including the UK, northern France, southern Australia and northern Canada, so we need to prepare for stronger-than-expected heatwaves in the coming years.
As the world warms further, these and other regions could see extreme heat that exceeds what climate models predict, says the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria. Kai Kornhuber says.
