Almost every movie The TV streaming apps you use keep track of the shows you watch. They do this for your convenience: recording your activity allows the app to pick up where you left off at another time or on another device, notify you of new content you might like, and give you more relevant recommendations.
Without this tracking, you wouldn’t have the same quality experience. But there are also some reasons why you might want to look into your viewing history and edit it or clear it entirely.
First, there’s the issue of privacy: if you share your account with other people or whole families at home, you might not want them to know that you skipped a show or that they enjoyed a terrible action movie as much as you did.
Secondly, the recommendations the app gives you are: Everything you watch is reflected in these recommendations, so if you remove a movie or show you didn’t like or one your kids were binge-watching, the recommendations will stay relevant.
Netflix
On the Netflix website, hover over your profile picture (top right) account and Manage your profileand then click your profile. Viewing Activity See everything you’ve watched recently.
To the right of each item in the list is a Hide button. If you tap Hide, the title will no longer affect recommendations and will no longer appear as watched on Netflix. If you hide a single episode of a show, you’ll be asked if you want to hide the entire series. Hide All Click the button at the bottom of the list.
You can’t access this entire list from within the Netflix mobile app, but you can hide your recently watched titles. Tap My NetflixTap and scroll down to the Recently Watched section. Tap the three dots on the thumbnail to Hide from viewing history option.
Apple TV+
In the macOS TV app, tv set Select from the menu setting: Down Advanced The tabs include Clear play history Click the button below. This will reset the list of everything you’ve watched so far and will no longer allow you to select individual titles.
You can remove individual titles from the Up Next bar on the main screen by clicking on the three dots next to the thumbnail. Remove from view and Remove from Recently Viewed This is to hide evidence that you’ve watched it (if you search for the show, it’ll still be marked as watched).
You’ll get the same options when you tap the three dots next to a show or movie thumbnail in the TV app on iOS and iPadOS. To clear your viewing history on a mobile device, tap your profile picture (top right), then tap Clear play history.
Youtube
Once you’re logged in to YouTube on the web, history Check out your recently watched videos in the left navigation panel, X Clicking will remove the video from your viewing history.
From the same screen, Clear all viewing history and Pause watch historyYou can also choose Manage all historyClicking will show you a complete list of all the videos you’ve ever watched on YouTube. From here you can search for videos, browse by date, or delete any or all of the videos from your history.
