It turns out that Apple Intelligence features that Apple didn’t show off at WWDC earlier this year may be added to iOS 18.
Specifically, when iOS 18 is released this fall, it may be possible to use AI to generate custom playlist art for Apple Music. This potential feature was spotted by 9to5Mac in some code from the iOS 18 beta. When creating or editing a playlist, you may see a button that lets you generate art (Create Image). This would be similar to how new versions of iOS let you create emojis using AI.

Can you test out the new Apple Music features now?
To be honest, this feature isn’t actually available in the iOS 18 beta. So it’s not possible to say exactly how it will work or if it will run smoothly yet – it’s just referenced in the code – and it may not be ready by the release of iOS 18 later this year. BloombergMark Gurman, a veteran Apple prognosticator, wrote in a newsletter last month that some of Apple’s AI features may be delayed until 2025.
But between AI-generated playlist art and the potential ability to restore corrupted images and videos, it’s clear that iOS 18 has a lot more left in it than Apple has shown so far.
