In season two, the band faces major hurdles including eviction, a rival band touring, and the daunting prospect of recording their first album. But in episode two, the band’s vocalist and bassist, Bisma, finds himself in a personal predicament when his daughter, Imani (Edesili Okepunero), is suspended from school for throwing eggs at a teacher. The teacher wanted to remove slavery from the seventh grade curriculum, and Imani got what she deserved.

“I did what Malala did,” Imani told her mother, “and she fights for girls’ education every day.”

“Malala wouldn’t throw eggs at Mr Appleby, Imani!” Bisma replied, deeply disappointed.

But while Bisma was initially concerned about her daughter’s food-throwing protest tactic, Imani’s insistence on her daughter’s right to learn has led her to question her mother’s understanding of her own rebellion. “You’re in a punk band and you pretend to be this amazing edgy lord, but you know who you are, right? You’re good at pleasing people,” Imani says.
