There are a lot of multiverse conspiracies. Deadpool and Wolverine, Most notable was the legion of Deadpool variants in the third act, the most famous of which was the Lady and Baby variant, but there were many more that somehow missed out on the event.
Now that the film’s art is complete, concept artists have revealed some of their work, with David Masson teasing two Deadpools that he had to bench. The first, Wolverinepool, is a self-explanatory version of Wade in his Logan costume, with his own colors and style. (Will the role be Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, or something in between?) Masson also showed off Punkpool, a rocker version with studs and spikes all over his suit. We can only imagine he was inspired by Spiderpunk in some way. It would’ve been cool if he’d come out with twin guitars instead of katanas.
Fellow artist Andy Park showed off his own concept art, but his larger-than-life version was Rob Pool. Park called this way of paying tribute to the character’s co-creator Rob Liefeld, part of a “fun sequence” in which he changed Deadpool’s costume during pre-production. This version contains most of the “classic Liefeld traits” you can name: “exaggerated muscles, pouches, sword, shoulder pads, color splits from the original costume, original eye shape.” Only the exaggerated feet are missing, but it’s the complete package. Park also showed off art of Deadpool jumping into the MCU. Marvel comics Universe. This was during his multiverse quest to find Wolverine, and the Avengers he met were supposed to be in the vein of legendary comic book writers.
According to Park, his work (and presumably Masson’s too) Deadpool and Wolverine The artbook is scheduled to be released on October 29th.
