NASA is moving forward with plans to send another helicopter to Mars. The spacecraft was scheduled to roar into the planet’s atmosphere before landing on its own, carrying scientific equipment and covering several kilometers a day.
Several landers landed safely on the Martian surface, using parachutes and rockets to slow their descent. Some were equipped with wheeled probes that could explore the Earth’s surface. Next up was NASA’s helicopter drone Ingenuity. Despite being designed on a shoestring budget, it completed an astonishing 72 successful flights to Mars.
