Hurricane Milton’s eerie gray swirl is captured in the Gulf of Mexico. This shot is from the Cooperative Institute for Atmospheric Research. In October, Milton became one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes ever recorded in the Gulf of Mexico, with wind speeds reaching 285 km/h. It made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm, causing heavy rain and flooding that damaged homes and power lines. At least 35 people have died, 32 in the United States and three in Mexico.
