Will AI give us a rosy view of ourselves?

Many people fear that one day artificial intelligence will rise and wipe out humanity, but after spending hours playing with digital ego boosters, I’m rather afraid that artificial intelligence will give us a little I’m starting to worry that I’m being too nice.
It all started when journalist Max Read suggested I check out Google’s NotebookLM tool in his excellent newsletter Read Max. Released last year, Google bills NotebookLM as an AI-powered research assistant that lets you upload documents and have the AI scrutinize them.
