Later this month, Sony Until Dawn After finalizing the majority of its core cast a few months ago, the film has now added three more, with fan-favourite actor Peter Stormare as the big name.
In the original PlayStation 4 game, Stormare played Dr. Hill, a therapist who appeared between chapters to analyze the player’s choices and fears. Sources who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter said he will reprise the role in the film, but will apparently be psychoanalysing new characters. Other cast members include Maia Mitchell (The Fosters) and Belmont Cameri (Saved by the Bell). Who are they playing? That’s unclear, as are co-stars Ella Rubin, Yoo Ji-young, and Odessa Azzion. It’s also unclear what the film will be about, or how it will handle the game’s branching paths – namely, why players loved it so much.
All we know is that director David F. Sandberg Until Dawn It marks his return to horror films after making them for the past few years. Shazam In a statement to THR, he said the film will “explore the many great subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible.” Though the characters may be new to the film, he said it will be a “great standalone introduction,” capturing the essence of Supermassive’s hit and “offering something new for fans of the games to enjoy.”
Reading between the lines, fans of the original game probably agree that this Until Dawn It’s only a change in name, and while what changes are planned will likely frustrate you, the bright side is that a remaster will be released for PlayStation 5 and PC later this year to at least keep the original experience intact.
