Autonomous balloons high above Earth’s atmosphere are taking stunningly detailed photos of neighborhoods and individual homes in 28 U.S. states, and starting in January 2025 they will be able to take photos of the ground anywhere in the continental U.S. . Such high-resolution aerial imagery can help those responding to climate-related natural disasters, but it also raises privacy concerns.
“This is the first time we have access to nationwide aerial imagery at this resolution (7 centimeters),” said Rema Matevosyan, CEO and co-founder of the company.
