Samsung’s boss seems to agree with online criticism of the company being an “Apple clone.”
According to a new report from South Korean news media Ahjung NewsSamsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong was unhappy with Samsung’s mobile division, Samsung MX (Mobile eXperience), following reactions on social media and tech news outlets regarding the design of Samsung’s latest products.
Samsung’s Chairman Reportedly The company has asked the division to “reconsider its plans” after online criticism that the design of its latest devices appeared to be a copy of Apple’s products.
“The chairman (Li) personally intervened after the controversy over Apple’s design plagiarism and quality issues surrounding the Buds 3 series and Galaxy Watch 7, which were released last month,” a source was quoted as saying by the outlet. “The atmosphere within the company is very bad right now.”
The report further said unspecified action had been taken against the head of Samsung MX and other employees in the company’s mobile division.

Samsung’s “Apple clone”
Samsung faced a firestorm of criticism after holding its mega annual event, Galaxy Unpacked, last month, where the electronics giant unveiled two new products, the Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatch and a new line of earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3, in addition to its latest smartphones.

But the celebratory Galaxy Unpacked event quickly drew negative reviews online, with smartphone critics, tech commentators and even Samsung fans pointing out the smartwatch and earphones’ boring, Apple-esque design.
“Today was a big defeat for Samsung.” Said Quinn Nelson of Snazzy Labs, a popular tech review YouTube channel: “The Watch Ultra is the most shameless Apple copycat we’ve seen in years, and it’s ugly as hell.”

“It’s disappointing to see Samsung release so many Apple clones,” says Apple Insider Andrew O’Hara. Said After the event, Samsung said, “It’s boring and a huge flop compared to what Samsung has done in the past.”
Such criticism was also heard among reporters attending a press conference at the company’s flagship Samsung store in Seoul, Ajunews reported, who said reporters “constantly talked about how Samsung’s new devices looked exactly like Apple’s.”
