Following Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, Stephen Colbert has officially retired his Joe Biden aviator hat, along with his accompanying impersonation and binder of Biden-themed jokes.
But in a monologue packed with not one but two dance breaks, Night Screening The host also took the time to offer his thoughts on Biden dropping out of the election.
“Personally, I will miss Joe Biden,” Colbert says in the video above. “On this show on September 10, 2015, I encouraged then-Vice President Biden to run. He ignored me for five years, then ran. I believe he was a great president. He led our country through a terrible pandemic, saved countless lives by encouraging vaccinations, restored our economy, rallied our allies, and reasserted America’s place on the world stage. And most inspiring of all, he was not Donald Trump.”
