Of note, A Quiet Place: Day 1 Despite the generally positive reception, not everyone is a fan. Mashable’s Kristy Puchko wrote in her review that the film isn’t equal to the sum of its parts.

“Its central love story fails to shine amid the promised carnage and urban devastation of the first part,” Puchko writes. “The acting is earnest but loses its footing amid the shoddy plot. The horror that was once rooted in characters and uncertainty loses luster without either. For all the film tries to include, it just doesn’t have enough.”

Oh, and if you’ve watched the film and still have questions remaining (including about the cats!), then look no further.

A Quiet Place: Day 1 It’s currently showing in theaters.
