Waiting time Deadpool 2 Released in 2018, the third film took longer than anyone expected, in part due to the Disney/Fox acquisition and Fox figuring out how to handle the various movies in production. But six years later, and after multiple assurances that it would be R-rated like the first two, Deadpool and Wolverine is out in theaters now and there’s a lot going on with it, both good and bad.
It’s gotten mostly pretty positive reviews, but those who don’t like the movie either really hate it or are coming into it with a resigned attitude. In some ways, the movie was already a win when it was announced that Hugh Jackman would be returning as Wolverine. Logan The 2017 release of Star Wars came just before the big release of the franchise. While Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have received praise for their acting and dialogue, other parts of the film have drawn criticism. The highly-touted fan service featuring appearances from former actors hasn’t been to everyone’s tastes, as has the humor (which, to be fair, has always been a target of criticism for these films) and the homages to the MCU and Fox’s decades-long Marvel era.
Deadpool and Wolverine There was a lot riding on its release. The past two phases of the MCU have been shaky, with this being the only Marvel Studios film of the year that actually made it big. For many, it served as a relaunch for the mega-franchise, but for others, it’s just a sign of an impending decline and continuing evidence that the Multiverse Saga is a flop. The film seems on track to make $1 billion when it’s all said and done, but it will take time to judge its overall impact on the MCU and the superhero scene as a whole.
But until then, I’d love to know what you all thought about this movie. Did you love it, hate it, were you disappointed? Tell me all your thoughts in the comments section below.
