When a new edition is released, Dungeons & Dragons—In the year of our 50th anniversary Dungeons & DragonsWizards of the Coast would have been happy with the number of dungeons and dragons available to players back in 2017, but there are more dungeons and dragons to come.
Wizards of the Coast has announced its plans for next year following its latest setback. Dungeons & Dragons The final new core rulebook, the Monster Manual, will be released in early 2025, followed by supplements. Four new major releases are scheduled for next year. Dungeons & DragonsThe new release will include a new Dragonborn quest, three sourcebooks, and a new starter set to replace the current boxed edition. The starter set will come with new adventures for players to embark on, and is expected to be released in fall 2025. It will kick off in the summer with a dragon-themed anthology, a collection of different dragon lore from around the world. Dungeons & Dragons Ten new adventures themed around the multiverse and encountering dragons in dungeons. Where else can you find dragons?
Wizards plans to publish the two-part book series later in 2025. Dungeons & DragonsThe Forgotten Realms is Minecraft’s most popular campaign setting. The Player’s Guide will feature new subclasses, feats, backgrounds, factions, and spells for players to create their characters with, while the Adventure Guide will act as a lore book for Dungeon Masters to plan and build their campaigns. It is entirely up to them whether they want to add dragons to their dungeons. Presumably, as Wizards has previously stated, any updated subclasses that were previously in 5th Edition that are included in the new material will be overwritten with the new edition versions here. However, given the controversy from last week, Dungeons & Dragons Beyond It will accommodate players who have access to both the 2014 and 2024 rulesets, but there will still be a way to access older versions of the returning subclasses.
There was also a sneak peek at Wizards’ own virtual tabletop system, Project Sigil, coming in 2025. Baldur’s Gate 3The game’s characters, Karlach and Astarion, are so often featured as playable figures in Sigil’s gameplay demo that the new 3D system allows players to create customizable 3D miniatures of their characters, and DMs to design maps and areas in which campaigns are set. Sigil will enter closed beta testing this fall, Beyond Subscribers can sign up now, whether for free or premium access.
But other than that, it’s a pretty obvious place for Wizards to start reconstructing the new edition. A lot of the 5th edition material is Dungeons & DragonsWith a new ruleset and book for , it’s only natural that the first wave of material made specifically for the new rules would fall back on familiar ideas and settings. The next Dungeon Master’s Guide is already heading back to Greyhawk, so for now, Dungeons, Dragons, and the Forgotten Realms are the focus of attention. Dungeons & DragonsThe new era of starts to become a bit more exploratory again.
