We may have to wait a while to see it, but tonight HBO gave us our first good look. The Last of Us‘ s going to be a big deal if he comes back.
It was released as a preview of what’s to come next year. House of the DragonTonight marks the season finale (stay tuned for tomorrow’s recap!), and while the new footage is short, it does offer some tantalizing hints at how the second season from Naughty Dog’s award-winning sequel will play out.

The footage not only gives us a glimpse at new sides to Joel and Ellie, played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey (mostly going through tough times), but also offers glimpses of new and returning major characters, including Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna), Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), Dina (Isabella Merced), and Jeffrey Wright, who reprises his role as Isaac from the games. It also features our first look at a mysterious new character, played by Catherine O’Hara, who asks Joel an intriguing question that presumably concerns Ellie: “Did you hurt her?”

The Last of Us Season 2 is scheduled to air on HBO and Max in 2025.
