The Legendary Marvel Comics Art of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Like You’ve Never Seen It Before

Marvel vs. Capcom 2The book features high-resolution illustrations of all 56 Marvel and Capcom characters by legendary Japanese artist Bengus. As a longtime collaborator with Capcom, Bengus’ illustrations spanning game generations are iconic. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is eternally beloved for all the right reasons: its beautiful colors, sketches, and hatched shadows present a unified aesthetic that blends both sides of the game into a cohesive cast of fighters. On the Marvel side in particular, Bengus’ approach to some of the definitive ’90s designs for the X-Men, Avengers, and their most famous villains was a match made in heaven.

For many fans, the Vengus versions of Spider-Man, Captain America, Cyclops, Magneto, and many other characters are of These characters are new additions to not only Marvel gaming history, but comic book history as well. To finally see them recreated and preserved with such quality is a wonderful celebration of one of the best Marvel comic artists of our time, even though Bengus never actually had the chance to draw comics for the publisher.
